LINCOLN VEHICLE FACTS

Lincoln is Ford Motor Company’s luxury brand. It was founded in 1917 by Henry Leland and was bought by Ford in 1922. The brand is named after Leland’s hero Abraham Lincoln. The brand has a history of providing official limousines for U.S. Presidents. Starting in 1939, a Lincoln V12 convertible named “Sunshine Special” was used by President Franklin D. Roosevelt. It was used until 1948. Starting in 1950, a “Bubble Top” Lincoln Cosmopolitan was used by Harry Truman, Dwight D. Eisenhower, John F. Kennedy, and Lyndon B. Johnson. It served until 1965. Lincoln is currently known for making the Mark LT, a luxury pickup truck that was first sold in 2005. Lincoln’s only other pickup truck was a 2002 model called the Blackwood. The Mark LT is made on the same assembly line as the Ford F-150 and is available with all-wheel drive. The Lincoln Navigator luxury SUV is Lincoln’s answer to GM’s Cadillac Escalade.
