GMC VEHICLE FACTS
GMC stands for General Motors (Truck) Company and the brand includes trucks, SUVs, and vans sold in both the Middle East and North America. It’s GM’s second best selling vehicle division after Chevrolet. The brand began as the Rapid Motor Vehicle Company in 1901 and was purchased by GM in 1909 to make trucks. GMC and Chevrolet trucks are very similar, and from 1973 until 2003 the two lines shared every feature except price and trim packages. However in 2007, GM started accentuating more differences in the two truck lines, with, for example, the Chevy Silverado and the GMC Sierra having somewhat different overall looks based on differently shaped body panels. In the U.S., the GMC brand is usually sold at dealers that also sell Pontiacs and Buicks.
